After years of living in L.A. and driving past the busy street corner of Hollywood and Highland, it was a documentary that finally made me stop at this intersection see what all the hullabaloo is about.
The film, Confessions of a Superhero, is about the people who play super heroes outside of the Chinese theater. You learn about their dreams of being actors or actresses, where they came from before they moved to L.A., and how they make ends meet just to pursue the dream of making it big in Hollywood. It made me want to meet these caped crusaders for myself.
After doing some internet research, I found Christopher Dennis' myspace page (he's the guy who plays Superman outside of the theater, and he's the "star" of the documentary). I arranged a meet up with him and was able to chat with him for quite a long time about the film and his future aspirations. If you are in the area, be sure to say hello to him--he is so friendly and polite, and perhaps the most knowledgeable Superman afficionado you will ever meet. Oh, and he looks just like Christopher Reeves!
